Well, I haven’t been doing too much recently… start work at a little camera shop around here tomorrow. Should be cool… aside from that, I want to make a short movie about “zombies”. I also, had a possible new idea for a photo series; it has to do with dreams and how often they make no sense at all (in a nut shell).
The “zombie” short: everyone knows exactly what I’m talking about when I say that people who get a new smart phone (iPhone, Android, Blackberry) totally act like zombies once they are in a group of friends/people. All they do is get a text and they are sucked into the phone and disregard everything around them except their phone. Well this idea of a zombie-esq parody came to me while 2 friends of mine had gotten new iPhones and were glued to it not acknowledging a thing except… the phone. That is basically the initial idea without going into detail as to the little plot that I have written up.
The photo series about dreams: The other morning I was woken up at about 7:30 to this insanely vivid and ridiculous dream. I instantly was awake and could not fall back to asleep… the only thing that I could do was think about this dream so I wrote as much as I could remember down and began making story boards. The dream was a dream in which I realized it was a dream and began doing absurd things such as using a magical rainbow glowing bone to beat people up and transform animals and what not with. Shit got weird. Once I really starting thinking more and more about it, I was thinking that I would really enjoy making photos of this and other strange happenings in dreams. I’ve been really digging Gregory Crewdson’s work especially from “Twilight” and what not. I think I would want to make this sort of in the style of some of his work. Very nice images, that are incredibly detailed. Although I do not have any large format cameras, I think if the 6×7 used properly (cable release and mirror lock up) would be adequate enough of an image for what I am looking for.
Hopefully soon enough I will be able to add something worthwhile opposed to just me trying to figure stuff out by actually writing it out from my silly brain.
